Emerged from Rio Parana’ swamps dince 2013, Argentinian stoner doom trio Mephistofeles is called from critics ‘the next step in the evolution after the legendary Electric Wizard’. Slovenian heavy fuzz rockers Omega Sun are Aris Demirović (guitar), Igor Kukanja (vocals and bass) and Jure Vučko on drums. With their debut ‘Opium for the Masses’ (2017) they have established themselves as the most recognizable stoner name in the Slovenian scene. Their second album ‘Roadkill’ was released in 2023 via No Profit Recordings, and since then they have been tirelessly touring the main club across Europe and U.S. playing with Ufomammut, Hippie Death Cult, Brant Bjork, 1000Mods.
My Pitbull Lucifer, doom psychedelic rock from Pula, formed in 2021 with members from band of local scene such as grindcore legends Bolesno Grinje and Mighty Zazuum. Last April they have released ‘Gushing River’, the first video single from the upcoming album ‘Welcome to New Earth’.
Lubiana come il Mojave Desert in occasione della data slovena di quel nume tutelare dello stonerrock che risponde al nome di Brant Bjork. Al nostro arrivo il termometro segna i 39°C, e la sua discesa nel corso della serata è così lieve che si stenta a percepire. Dopo un giro in centro, ci dirigiamo verso quella che per noi è una location nuova da esplorare, ovvero il summer garden del Gala Hala, uno dei club situati all’interno del Metelkova, cuore pulsante della Lubiana ‘alternativa’.
Il Gala Hala si rivela il rancho perfetto dove cercare un po’ di ristoro, con la sua verde ‘oasi’ e sassi di pietra sul terreno. A fare gli onori di casa ci sono i valorosi Omega Sun, che hanno suonato sfidando il sole ancora alto e la gente appena entrata ed ancora in procinto di roll….ehm, di prendere posto:) I rockers di Koperstanno continuando a portare in giro il loro ultimo lavoro ‘Roadkill’ (2023) ma, come hanno già anticipato, del nuovo materiale sta bollendo in pentola…quindi stay tuned!

Brant Bjork has spent over a quarter-century at the epicenter of underground rock & roll. A founding member and composer of the legendary desert band Kyuss, as well as propelling the seminal fuzz of fellow stoner rockers Fu Manchu from 1994-2000. Over the last 30 years Brant Bjork has embarked on his solo career as a singer, guitarist, composer and bandleader, founding his own record label and more, his history is a winding narrative of relentless, unflinching creativity.
In 2025 he’s touring with his Brant Bjork Trio featuring MikeAmster (Nebula, Mondo Generator, Spoon Benders) on drums and old friend and long time collaborator, desert rock pioneer Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man, Desert Sessions) on bass guitar.
The new release titled ‘Once Upon A Time In The Desert’ (2024) is the result of a long collaborative friendship between Bjork & Lalli . The music this band creates together is a heavy fluid groove, organic, honest desert rock & roll. The very elements of the genre were created by these veteran independent musicians. This record expresses the principles of those styles.
The debut was also the first title to be offered by the relaunch of Duna Records, founded in the mid-1990s by Brant Bjork, originally called El Camino Records.

Acid Mammoth, doom metal dalla Grecia guidati dall’inconsueta coppia chitarristica padre Dad ‘The Riffer’ e figlio Chris Babalis Jr., sono più di una semplice band di amici…sono una famiglia!
Formati ad Atene nel 2015, nel 2019 firmano con la Heavy Psych Sounds Records, che li accoglie nel suo roster subito dopo il primo ascolto. A fine 2020 registrano il terzo full lenght‘Caravan’, uscito nel marzo 2021 sempre via Heavy Psych Sounds Records, così come la prima stampa del debut omonimo del 2017 e le due ristampe di ‘Under Acid Hoof’. La band ha fatto due tour europei nel 2022 e nel 2023, oltre ad esibirsi in festival come Desertfest London, Desertfest Antwerp e SonicBlast Fest. Nel 2024 hanno pubblicato il loro ultimo album ‘Supersonic Megafauna Collision’.

Già ospiti nel 2019, i rockers sloveni sono così tornati live sul palco del Planet Rock, la prestigiosa quattro giorni di heavy rock diretta da John Gist che quest’anno ha visto ospiti, tra gli altri, anche Unida, MosGenerator, Solace, Sergeant Thunderhoof, Green Desert Water e Watchers.
Dopo le prime date in California, prima a San Diego e poi al Redwood di Los Angeles insieme a Sea Of Snakes e Formula 400, gli Omega Sun hanno poi continuato il loro minitour in Arizona, dove hanno suonato per la prima volta a Phoenix con i tedeschi Samavayo, Secrets Of Lost Empires e Bending Light.
La band, che sta portando in giro l’ultimo album ‘Roadkill’ (2023), ha già annunciato le prossime date, tra cui l’8 febbraio al Mostovna di Nova Gorica, il 20 aprile alla Trainstation di Kranj con i greci 1000 Mods e il 7 maggio all’Arena di Vienna con gli Hippie DeathCult.
I rockers di Koper si preparano per una nuova trasferta negli Stati Uniti, dopo quella del 2019. La band è infatti nel cartellone del Planet Desert Rock Weekend , la quattro giorni di heavy rock in programma dal 30 gennaio al 2 febbraio 2025 in diverse location di Las Vegas.
Il festival partirà giovedì 30 gennaio con headliner gli Unida per poi proseguire venerdì 31 gennaio con una serata dedicata al roster della Ripple Music, label californiana specializzata in stoner e doom. Sabato 1 febbraio sarà la volta degli Omega Sun, che presenteranno l’ultimo album ‘Roadkill’ (2023)! Nella stessa sera ci saranno anche MosGenerator, Solace, Sergeant Thunderhoof, Green Desert Water e Watchers. Gran finale domenica 2 febbraio con, tra gli altri ospiti, anche i mitici Duel!
Prima dello show di Las Vegas, gli Omega Sun hanno due date anche in California a San Diego e Los Angeles e una in Arizona, dove suoneranno a Phoenix al leggendario Yucca, live music since 1970!

Slovenian heavy fuzz rockers Omega Sun started in 2013 as an instrumental duo and after few rehearsals morphed into a proper four piece band with vocals. As of then Omega Sun played numerous gigs, also sharing the stage with Dopethrone, Unida, Kylesa, Nebula, Stoner Kebab, Yawning Man, Three Eyes Left etc. In the time in between all of that the band released an instrumental demo from late 2013 and soon after in 2014 their first proper song as a four piece (with vocals) ‘Early Morning’. After some turmoil in 2017 Omega Sun finally managed to record their debut full length ‘Opium For The Masses‘; now as a power trio consisting of Igor (vocals, bass), Seba (drums) and Aris (guitar). In 2022 the band finished the work on their 2nd full-length ‘Roadkill’. First single ‘The One‘ off ‘Roadkill’ album was released in late June 2023 as a digital single on the band’s own Bandcamp. Second song, ‘Doomer‘ will be released on September 1st and the full album is scheduled for a release on September 8th. Album will be released in digital version and pre-orders with discounted prices for vinyl version will go live at the same time with vinyl expected to be released by mid December. Vinyl will be released by No Profit Recordings in 300 copies on standard black 12″ vinyl out of which 50 copies will be featuring exclusive alternative artwork.
